This..Just in

Here are some quick photos of fun finds that I have just brought into the shop. My favorites include the vintage shoe box and the aqua light bulb sugar shaker. I have a weakness for old bottles especially the aqua ones. I just priced it and put it out. I didn't want to think about it too much or I knew it would end up in my collection. The shoe box is a neat shape and I love the colors of the stripes on it.

Aqua glass sugar shaker

This is the sweetest old shoe box. I think it would be great on top of a huge stack of suitcases like this:

great footed and fluted ironstone bowl

mother of pearl handled knives

Gold and white salt jar

sweet stack of creamy crazed white bowls $12 each

Pair of old gold gilt curtain tie backs $95 set

Drawer pulls

Ornate drawer pulls

I love these old swing frames. They are so practical too.

Lookout Mountain photo album
This sweet album has never been used. Or at least there are no pictures in it. How fun would it be to take a trip there and put your own pictures in there? For those of you not familiar with Lookout Mountain, TN here it is:

and if you know Lookout Mountain then you've gotta know:

O.K. enough about all the infamous tourist attractions of Tennessee. I just can't help but wish that they still sold souvenirs like that now. Oh well that gives us junkers an excuse to buy things like this. To save the world from cheesy new souvenirs.
That's it for now.
Sincerely,
Scarlett

Maybe Next Year

This year seems like a blur. The better part of this year was spent planning and preparing for our wedding. We did a record number of shows and actually planned the wedding date around the show schedule. There is no wonder that when the wedding finally happened and the fabulous honeymoon, we were exhausted. The only other thing was after the honeymoon... you guessed it, another show. Needless to say I've become tired from all of this and haven't been up to par on Christmas decorating this year. Of course the shop is all decked out for Christmas but not our house. Here are some ideas I found on pinterest that I would like to try for next year.

This is so sweet and simple I love it!!

I love kraft paper and using blue at Christmas.

These packages are too pretty to unwrap

I love to force bulbs and this would be a really fun tablescape

This would look really good at the shop next year under all of the windows. I'll have to keep my eyes posted for some sap buckets while I'm in New England I like the colored ones best.

These are from my friend Ellen Brandt's house she has a great collection of old Christmas items. I should save some of the old bottle brush trees for our house.

This is a great idea at the shop and at home. I love the simple green with the ironstone. This would be great all winter.

I think I will just compile ideas this year since it is really too late to do much more than we already have. Maybe next year will be less stressful but just as exciting.

Sincerely,
Scarlett

New Hampshire for the holidays via Boston

For the last two years Louie and I have rung the new year in while in Boston. It has become our tradition. So this year we are heading to New Hampshire for New Years and will stay in Boston on New Years Eve.
The first year we stayed in this fabulous old hotel. It is the Omni Parker House in Downtown Boston. It is America’s oldest continuously-operating hotel and is the home of the

Boston Cream Pie.

We took the trolley tour of the city which was really interesting and kept us warm because it was sooo cold. I had NEVER seen SNOW like that. We went to the top of the

Prudential building. Louie is determined to make me a Red Sox fan. So here you go Louie:)

We also took the tour of Paul Revere's home which was one of my favorite things we did.

I'm thinking that we will tour the aquarium there this year it sounds like it is awesome. I'm a complete water creature so I always enjoy water and of course aquariums.
See how cool it looks

Of course the best part of going to New Hampshire is seeing my new family. Not to mention all the great greek food my mother-in-law will be whipping up. We are looking forward to our first Christmas as a married couple.

Sincerely,
Scarlett

Our honeymoon in Santorini

After a long somewhat stressful wedding planning and show filled summer, I am starting to feel a little more at home and finally have picked through some of the pictures from our honeymoon. We stayed in Fira, Santorni for the Last week or our honeymoon. The first week was divided up between Athens and a small country village where we saw Louie's family on both sides. I think it is pretty safe to say that it was AWESOME!!

The pictures shown here are all from Santorini. It truly was a special place and I soaked up all the eye candy of architecture, design and the Mediterranean that one girl could stand. Not to mention local Santorini wine and great foods.

These succulents in this great old olive jar made me smile every morning on our way out the door. I'd swear they were on steroids.

This little olive tree would look so good at our house...

We stayed on the cliffs and had a wonderful view from our apartment. I loved how everything was white and oxidized blue.

This is the view from our apartment window.

Since Santorini is situated directly on a volcano there were lots of churches about 400 to be exact. I think that I have almost talked Louie into building us one like this for a guest house someday.

The one thing noticeably more abundant than churches and tourist were the steps. These particular ones brought us down to our apartment.

Every morning and evening we would count the cruise ships to see how many came and went. There were eight on the busiest day. It makes us wonder what it's like when it is peak season.

This is just a few of the pictures from our honeymoon. I will post more that feature all the great oxidized blue doors and sweet little churches I loved so much.
Then perhaps I'll get some of the wedding pictures up.
Thanks for stopping in
Sincerely,

Pretty irresistible things

Banyan Trees... I could stare at these forever what a beautiful piece of nature!

waterfalls of course hold a special place in my heart...

I collect fabulous old vellum bound books from the late 18th and early 19th centuries

These old printed potted meat jars from England fill my medicine cabinet. I love them.

Mother of pearl anything is something I love. But I find these old mother of pearl carved buttons absolutely irresistible.

Old aqua bottles dug from the ground that are all sick and cloudy are among the most cherished of my collections.

I just was having a me moment and was thinking about some of the little things that I find so beautiful and wanted to share them with anyone who wanted to see.
Sincerely,
Scarlett
